I have never felt that "runner's high" after running miles on end.
I do not enjoy putting on a pair of sneakers and hitting the road (or treadmill for that matter!).
Now, I don't want you to be confused. It's not that I can't run...because I can and I have...it's just that I don't want to.
My sister is a runner and I have enlisted her help in learning to love running.

i strongly suggest doing a local 5k race once you get your base milage up!

That's great! I'm a runner at heart, I love it. I could run forever outside. Have fun, don't push yourself too hard at first, just take it all in! Good luck!
