Remember That One Time..?

Back in May, I posted about a photo shoot for a Firefighters Wives calendar that I had recently participated in. I shared with you some of the "behind-the-scenes" pictures that my sister-in-law had taken as well as sharing some "nuggets" of information that I had learned from the shoot like "Jan Tana Hi-Def Glaze isn't only for figure competitions" and "Showin' your ass in public is always more fun when you have your crazy sister-in-law and husband with you".
* if you missed the post, you can read here--> It Was For Charity

Well, I have another nugget of information to share with you.....

THE CALENDAR IS HERE!

I have been impatiently patiently waiting to see which of my photos was selected for the calendar, which month I am, and how everyone else's photos came out! When I saw on Facebook that pre-orders were officially being taken, I submitted mine....and waited....! Last week, I came home from work and there it sat. The envelope containing my calendar order!

My sister-in-law's reaction to my calendar picture :)

I'm very happy to announce that I am Mrs. July 2015...lol...and the picture that was chosen didn't make my parents cringe too much :)

Last week, I had the opportunity to promote the calendar on a local radio station with Justin (founder of Firefighters vs. Autism) and one of the firefighters that posed for the men's calendar. It was a lot of fun and of course, I was asked about working out and if I was flexing in my calendar picture. I made some remark about how hard it was to suck in my stomach, flex, take shallow breaths, and attempt to give the camera "the eye". The radio interview was a lot of fun and I'm really happy that my work schedule allowed me to participate!

Yes...he was just as gorgeous in person... *drool*
Being involved in this project from the photo shoot to now promoting the finished product has been amazing and incredibly humbling. This organization is made up of firefighters and families who have made it their mission to do what they can to educate others about the dangers of wandering & drowning that are highly common among those within the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The fact that Justin and Jason (photographer) felt that I could contribute in some way to this project & mission is still astounding to me!

I would love it if each of you considered purchasing a calendar, whether it's the Firefighters or the Firefighters' Wives version (but let's be honest....this is really the one you want...lol) or if the calendars aren't really your thing, you can always send in a donation!

And you don't even have to ask....yes....I'm willing to sign your calendars..... ;)

It Could Be Love...

What's up? What's up? What's up?

Wait...I just had a flashback of that one Budweiser commercial....lol....

Last week was all about love and because I'm a rebel, I waited to do this post until today :)

Here are the things that I like alot....maybe even love.... ;)

Books!

I love them! They have always been my sanctuary, my saving grace.
Being a librarian is an amazing gift because I have the opportunity to introduce people, of every age, to the beauty of reading.
Best thing ever!!

FitFluential's official Instagram account

I love searching the #FFCheckin hashtag at the end of the day to see recaps of what people have done throughout the day to get them one step closer to their fitness goals, whatever that may be. It's a great way to find motivation, encourage others, and receive support so if you're on Instagram, start using the hashtag!

Also, if you're on Instagram and we're not following each other - let's fix that! You can find me HERE

I found this hat last weekend at Wet Seal and knew that it needed to be mine.
It's a bit smartass...but hey...so am I! :)

This salsa.
So flippin' good!
I have to thank my friend Richard in San Fran for introducing me to it. I'm trying not to eat it with a spoon but y'all know how I get when I find something I like... #getinmybelly

Yep, I took a picture of my butt! #dontjudgeme

Do any of you watch Girl Code on MTV? It's so hilarious.
I was watching an episode the other night and they were talking about lingerie. One of the girls said that a new pair of panties can make you feel like a model, even when you know you're not one.

That's how I feel about these cute boy shorts my sister-in-law bought for me. They're soft, fit amazing, make my butt look juicy, and who doesn't love smiley faces?!?!

My new Iron Gals shirt!

I recently discovered that the guys behind Iron Gals & Iron Bros work out at my gymI am a huge fan of supporting local businesses. I love that I can order my supplements and they will hand deliver them to me at the gym - hello, amazing customer service!

I love the message behind Iron Gals and have become slightly obsessed with using the hashtags #strongher, #irongals, and #strengthisbeauty.

*p.s. They offer shipping at a reasonable price so go ahead and stock up!

The Princess, first thing in the morning <3
This face!

I love this face so much!

I love her laugh, her quick wit, her determination.
I love how she doesn't know the meaning of quit.
I love that she's equal parts soft and tough.
I love that she will still blow her mom kisses and say
I love you in sign language each morning as the bus pulls away.

Gym Swag...

I don't have any. Gym swag, that is. What is "swag" anyway? I guess I could look it up in the Urban Dictionary (because really, the Merriam-Webster dictionary just isn't as fun...lol) but I think I'll skip it for now....anywhooooo.....

I have been asked about where I shop for my workout clothes, what brands I like, and the such. Here's the bottom line, I kinda (or not really "kinda") hate to spend a lot of money on workout clothes! I would rather spend $90 on a pair of Steve Madden shoes than a pair of workout leggings I know I'm going to sweat like a pig in. Is that sad? I also know that it's possible to buy cute, great fitting workout clothes without spending all of my allowance - you just have to keep your eyes open and consider stores you haven't in the past!

I didn't always consider Old Navy a store that I would buy my workout clothes from. I love their dresses and shirts but their workout clothes....ehhh....I was a bit leery. But...and a big BUT here...they have really stepped up their game over the last year or two. The quality of their workout clothes is so much better than it has been in the past and the selection is great. Their options are reasonably priced but I love when I find their workout clothes in the clearance section. I found the above Women's Active compression capris on the clearance rack for $9!!! P.S. In case you're wondering, my top in the above pic is from JC Penny and I got it for $7...holla!

A brand that I recently discovered in the past year and really like is X2X Training Gear. While the women's selection isn't as large as the men's, it is slowly growing. I purchased their Ladies Burnout Tank (in black & purple) while I was at last year's Olympia Expo and I love it. The cut is flattering and the fit is amazing. I highly recommend following them on Facebook and/or Twitter - they use both to share info about sales, giveaways, etc.

Lucy Activewear is another brand that makes my heart...and wallet happy! I stumbled upon their clothing about 5 years ago when I was in Richmond, VA visiting family. We were at an outdoor outlet mall and I walked into their store just to browse for things I might be able to wear to bikram yoga. That day, I left with a bag full of clothes and have been shopping with them ever since! I don't normally wear shorter, tight fitting workout shorts but there's something about Lucy's Perfect Booty shorts (in both pictures above) that make me feel like my bottom half is bangin'. Now Lucy's prices are a bit high but they have phenomenal sales so consider them the next time you need need gear.

Other stores that I have success finding clothing at include Walmart (I love Danskin Now!!), Forever 21 (make sure to try their clothes on before you buy - it can run small), and Ross (be prepared to really look through each rack. This store requires time & patience).

There you have it...some of the brands and stores I like. Remember, you can find awesome clothes at reasonable prices - you just have to look!

Now, if I could just find a brand that would help me not look like a hot mess while at the gym.... ;)

My Week in Zapatos

A few weeks ago, one of my co-workers made the comment that she has never seen me wear the same pair of shoes more than once in a given week. I just chuckled and told her that I have a deep passionate love affair with shoes. A new pair of shoes can change not only an outfit, but your attitude and how you carry yourself. With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to do a review of my week...in zapatos!

Monday!

I had Monday off so I only got dressed to
go the gym and I decided to go with these Nikes.
Tuesday!!

I scored these lovely Jessica Simpsons from DSW on sale!
What librarian doesn't want to save the world,
one information need at a time,
in snakeskin stilettos?!?!

Tuesday was leg day at the gym so I busted
out my Bikilas!

Wednesday!

I don't normally wear or buy flats but
when I found these Dollhouse zebra flats last year,
I had to have them!!

Thursday!

I had the day off from work but not the gym! You
can't tell in this photo but these shoes are really
really really bright and I love them!
I wore these not only to the gym that day but also to the movies :)

Friday!!

I love Coach!! I own Coach purses, Coach shoes,
Coach bracelets, Coach sunglasses but one of my
favorite purchases from Coach has to be these wedges.
There's something about them that makes me feel
soft & girly when I put them on!

It's summer in Tucson...not officially...
but when it's 107 degrees on any given day,
I think it's safe to say it's summer!
To me, that means more sleeveless shirts and skirts.
That also means having to shave my legs consistently...ugh...but
let's not talk about that right now ;)

Shirt: Merono ($5 on Target clearance rack last summer!!)
Skirt: H & M (purchased from Buffalo Exchange)
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Accessories: earrings from Charlotte Russe,
